High school sports roundup (March 24)

Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Monday, March 24.

Baseball

Parkville 6, Western Tech 2: Teddy Pineda struck out eight in 6 ⅓ innings, allowing just one run on three hits to lead the Knights (2-0). Weston Brine paced the offense, going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Jeff Samborski also drove in two runs. Kiel Lewis was 3-for-3 with a double.

Eastern Tech 13, Franklin 1: The Mavericks took advantage of nine Franklin errors in the game. Brandon Moore had a double and three RBIs. Kingston Lawrence struck out eight in four innings, giving up one run on three hits.

Liberty 15, Manchester Valley 5: The Lions erupted for 14 runs in the second inning. Carter Shanks was 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs to lead the charge. Aiden Scherr and Danny Nelson each finished with two hits and three RBIs. Nate Martin and Sean Crochunis each drove in two.

C. Milton Wright 10, Aberdeen 2: Kevin Emerson had two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs to lead the Mustangs. Eric Penney and Jacob McVey each doubled and drove in two runs.

Softball

Patterson Mill 13, Havre de Grace 0: Lily Baldwin had a home run, a triple and a double with six RBIs to lead the Huskies’ offense onslaught. Kenzie Knight, Audrey March and Mia Jelen also drove in runs. Amanda Redmiles threw a four-hit shutout, striking out three.

C. Milton Wright 7, Fallston 6: The Mustangs scored all seven runs in the third inning. Kendra Miller had a double and two RBIs to lead the win. Sara Frist drove in two runs for Fallston.

Hereford 12, Western Tech 5: Lauren Clement went 3-for-4 with three doubles and three RBIs to lead the Bulls (2-0), who built a 7-0 lead after two innings. Morgan Hall also had three hits to go with three stolen bases and two RBIs.

Girls lacrosse

Harford Tech 16, Elkton 1: The Cobras poured in 10 goals in the first quarter and cruised to the win. Lauren Kunes had a hand in half the goals, scoring five and assisting on three. Anna Stearns and Jordan Sears each scored three with Stearns adding two assists. Natalie McGraw and Sadie Atkinson each scored two and Ava Fetherston and Mia Mickle also had a goal.

Aberdeen 8, Bohemia Manor 4: Amanda Wang scored four goals, assisted on one and claimed five draw controls to lead Aberdeen. Iyeko Acheneje added two goals, while Hannah Weer and Grace Buxton scored one each. In goal, Ellie Beinkampen made eight saves.
