A man was killed in a Central Park Heights shooting, according to Baltimore Police Department.
On Sunday at 3:15 p.m., police officers received a report of a shooting on the 3000 block of West Garrison Avenue. After arriving at the location, officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds.
The man was taken to a hospital for treatment and was later pronounced dead by medical staff, according to police. Detectives are investigating the shooting. Anyone with information can call 410-396-2100.
The shooting was the first homicide reported in Baltimore for Labor Day weekend and the city’s fifth reported homicide of August. Last year there were 18 homicides in August, according to The Baltimore Sun’s homicide tracker. In July 2024, the city reported a 36% mid-year homicide decrease.
Central Park Heights saw its progress on crime disrupted in early August when it was the location of a mass shooting that killed a 38-year-old and wounded five others, including a 5-year-old girl. In mid-August, an 18-year-old was shot and killed in the 5100 block of Park Heights Avenue.
