The Terps hit the road for their final nonconference series of the season.
Maryland baseball is shipping up to Boston for three nonconference games against a former ACC foe. The Terps will need to fulfill their inner Dropkick Murphys in what will be a massive series in terms of RPI against Boston College.
The Terps and Eagles have not faced off since 2014, when Maryland left the ACC for the Big Ten. Boston College swept the Terps in 2014, 3-0, and lead the all-time series, 19-8.
Earlier this week, it was announced that there would be a third game this week, making Saturday a doubleheader. Game one will start at 2 p.m. and game two will start at 6 p.m. Both games will be streamed on ACCNX. The final game of the series is set for Sunday at 3 p.m. and will stream on the ACC Network.
Boston College Eagles (21-25, 8-19 ACC)
The Eagles come into the weekend on a six-game losing streak and in last place in the ACC. Last weekend, the Eagles were swept by Louisville, 3-0.
Boston College is ranked No. 76 in RPI, while Maryland is ranked No. 31. However, if neither team makes it to its respective conference tournament, both programs’ NCAA Regional hopes may be dead.
Hitters to watch
Cameron Leary, senior outfielder, No. 11 — Leary leads the Eagles with 13 home runs and 44 RBIs. He also has a .270 batting average in 46 games played this season.

Nick Wang, junior infielder, No. 44 — Wang ranks second on the team with nine home runs this year. He also has a .281 batting average, .898 OPS and 39 RBIs.
Pitchers to watch

John West, senior right-handed pitcher, No. 34 — West has been a mainstay in Boston College’s weekend rotation this season, making 12 starts. He has a 1-3 record and a 4.91 ERA in 69 ⅔ innings.
Michael Farinelli, graduate student right-handed pitcher, No. 49 — Farinelli played the previous two seasons at Northwestern before transferring to the Eagles. He has made eight starts this season, going 0-5 with a 6.65 ERA.
Strength
Walks. Boston College has walked 234 times this season. Meanwhile, its opponents have walked just 207 times.
Weakness
Runs against. The Eagles have given up 328 runs and 301 earned runs this season, boasting a 6.74 ERA, and they have tallied just 315 runs and 270 earned runs on offense.
Three things to know
1. A Big Ten break. This weekend serves as a Big Ten bye week for Maryland before its final conference series of the year.
2. Games to watch. Maryland currently sits in eighth in the Big Ten standings. Keep an eye on Michigan State, who sits in seventh, as it takes on Minnesota, and Ohio State, who sits in ninth, against Northwestern.
3. Doubleheader Saturday. This series was originally only supposed to be two games, but a third contest was added to make Saturday a doubleheader. It will be interesting to see if Maryland regrets this decision.
