Defender Will Schaller earned a First-Team mention.
Six Maryland men’s lacrosse members were named USA Lacrosse 2025 All-Americans, the organization announced Thursday. One was named to each of the first, second and third Teams, while three received honorable mention status.
Will Schaller was the Terp selected to the first team. He has 22 caused turnovers and 26 ground balls on the season, but his biggest impact isn’t found on the stat sheet. Schaller is devastatingly effective at neutralizing star opponent attackers in the heart of the Maryland defense. The award is the first All-American nod for Schaller, who was also named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.
Logan McNaney was named to the All-American second team after becoming the Terps’ all-time leader in career saves earlier this year, and notching a 58.3% save rate on the season. The graduate goalkeeper’s performance has often been the difference between victory and defeat for Maryland — the Terps have won every game he has finished .500 or better in the net. This is McNaney’s third All-American honor.
Eric Kolar earned an All-American third-team nod. The junior short-stick defensive midfielder has been an integral part of Maryland’s top defensive line, which has held opponents to just over eight goals per game. Kolar has eight caused turnovers and eight ground balls. The award was Kolar’s first All-Americam honor.
Eric Spanos, Matthew Keegan and Jack McDonald each earned All-American honorable mention honors. Spanos has been instrumental in Maryland’s attack, tied for the team lead with 38 points (25 goals, 13 assists) and earning Tewaaraton Top-25 Finalist status. Keegan has 20 goals and 10 assists, giving the Terps a spark out of the midfield. McDonald leads Maryland with 42 ground balls and is behind only Schaller with 11 caused turnovers.
The Terps’ six honors come after just two Terps — McNaney and Spanos — were recognized by USA Lacrosse as preseason All-American honorable mentions. Now, Maryland begins NCAA Tournament play on Sunday as the No. 2-seed looking to win their fifth national title.
