Te-Biasu, this past season’s A-10 player of the year, is Maryland’s second transfer addition in as many days.
Maryland women’s basketball secured its second transfer commitment of the offseason Friday, with VCU point guard Sarah Te-Biasu announcing on social media that she will play for the Terps.
Te-Biasu’s exceptional play led her to be named the 2023-24 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, marking the first time a VCU player received the honor since 2003-04.
During her four years at VCU, Te-Biasu consistently performed as a reliable scorer, never averaging below 10 points per game. Over the last two seasons, she maintained a scoring average of 16 points per game with a shooting percentage of 40.7%. In the 2023-24 season, she also recorded a career-high 64 steals.
This past season, she ranked 33rd nationally in 3-pointers made per game (2.5) and 35th in free-throw percentage (86%).
Throughout her tenure at VCU, Te-Biasu received All-Atlantic 10 third-team honors twice and was also selected to the all-conference rookie team after her freshman season. As a junior, she made history by becoming the first Ram in nearly a decade to score 30 points in a game.
Hailing from Canada, Te-Biasu previously represented her country on the U19 national team.
Te-Biasu’s presence will bolster Maryland’s backcourt, joining returning starters Shyanne Sellers and Bri McDaniel, alongside recent transfer Kaylene Smikle and incoming recruits Kyndal Walker and Ava McKennie.
