The Terps are yet to win a game in Big Ten play.

Maryland women’s soccer was dominated by No. 7 Ohio State on Friday night, 3-0.

The Terps fell down early and never recovered, failing to score a goal for the 16th consecutive Big Ten match.

The Buckeyes outmatched and outclassed Maryland (3-7-4, 0-5-1 Big Ten) all night, and the Terps had no answer.

Ohio State (9-1-3, 4-1-2 Big Ten) got out to a hot start out of the gate. Liz Beardsley conceded two goals in a 24-second span, both in the seventh minute.

Peyton McNamara gave the Buckeyes their initial lead. Amanda Schlueter took a shot that was blocked, but right to the foot of McNamara, who rocketed it in the net.

Then, Kailyn Dudukovich notched her 12th goal of the season on a low right shot, again assisted by Schlueter, who found Dudukovich on the break with two Maryland defenders close by. Dudukovich put it home past a diving Beardsley.

The match had barely begun and the Terps were already in a massive hole. Things didn’t get better when Lauren Wrigley received a yellow card.

Ava Morales tried to flip the tide offensively with two shot attempts that missed wide; one in the 11th minute and another in the 22nd minute. Beardsley also made two saves between the 20th and 23rd minute.

Kate Hawley took Maryland’s third shot of the first half, but she missed high. The Terps struggled to get a shot on goal, but still tried to bring pressure as they failed on their first corner in the 27th minute.

The Buckeyes, however, had no trouble getting shots on net, forcing Beardsley to make a fifth save on an Ava Greco shot in the 30th minute.

Maryland finally got its first shot on goal of the half in the 40th minute, but Emily Lenhard was stoned by Molly Pritchard who made the save on a bottom center shot.

The first half ended with Maryland able to weather Ohio State’s early storm, but there was still plenty of work to do down by two goals.

At the half, Ohio State led Maryland in shots (8-4), shots on goal (5-1), fouls (6-4) and corners (4-3).

Beardsley made her fourth save of the match just over 10 minutes into the second half.

In the 63rd minute, Schlueter took another shot on goal for Ohio State, but it was kept out of the net. The save was credited to the Maryland defense.

Jacinda Bonham scored for the Buckeyes in the 68th minute to give them a three-goal lead. It came off Amanda Schlueter’s third assist of the night, as she dominated the Terps with her passing Friday night.

Madison Krakower looked to get Maryland its evasive first Big Ten goal with a shot in the final minute, but she missed high and the Terps were left scoreless yet again.

Three things to know

1. Maryland had no answer early. Ohio State scored two goals in the first 10 minutes, and Maryland had no answer for that early lead. It only mustered one shot on goal Friday night.

2. Schlueter’s assists. Amanda Schlueter had her way with the Maryland defense, notching an assist on all three Ohio State goals.

3. Outshot. Ohio State had more shots (20-6) and shots on goal (8-1) than Maryland. The Buckeyes possessed the momentum and the Terps couldn’t get enough chances to put one on the board.
