This is the Maryland Minute, a short story followed by a roundup of Terps-related news.

Maryland wrestling competed at the Franklin and Marshall Lehman Open this past weekend, and four Terps finished third in their respective weight classes: Braxton Brown (133 pounds), Kal Miller (141 pounds), Ethen Miller (149 pounds) and Michael North (157 pounds). Ethen Miller, Brown and North won their third-place matches by pin, and Kal Miller won via decision.

Outside of those four, two Maryland wrestlers advanced to the quarterfinals of their brackets. Heavyweight Seth Nevills lost his quarterfinal bout due to injury and had to forfeit his consolation match, meanwhile freshman 165-pounder AJ Rodrigues won two consolation matches.

King Sandoval, a 133-pound graduate student, lost his first match but rebounded with four straight pins to advance to the consolation round of four, where he ultimately lost by major decision.

The Terps kick off Big Ten competition this Friday when they host Michigan, which is ranked in the top 10 nationally by both InterMat and FloWrestling.
