No. 21 Maryland wrestling (3-2, 1-1 Big Ten) Sunday collected its third-ever Big Ten victory when it took down Northwestern (0-2, 0-1 Big Ten), 29-15. Maryland’s 29 points were its highest total in a conference bout since joining the Big Ten.
The Terps took six out of 10 bouts, including five by bonus points.
No. 19 Braxton Brown, No. 14 Kal Miller and No. 17 Ethen Miller each secured early wins by technical fall, while No. 32 Michael North pinned No. 13 Trevor Chumbley to give Maryland a commanding 21-5 advantage.
No. 5 Jaxon Smith sealed the Terps’ victory with a technical fall result against Northwestern’s Evan Bates.
Maryland will next be in action on Jan. 19 at Ohio State.
