MM 1.7: Maryland volleyball adds two transfers

This is a Maryland Minute a short story followed by a roundup of Terps-related news.

Maryland volleyball announced this weekend the addition of transfers Olivia Ruy, an outside hitter, and Ajack Malual, an opposite hitter.

Ruy, a 6-foot-2 redshirt freshman from Arkansas, started in all but four games last season, finishing third on the team in kills (221) and service aces (13). With the departure of Sam Csire — who has the third-most career kills in program history — Ruy will have an opportunity to make an impact immediately. The Terps ended last season with just one healthy outside hitter and looked to add more depth at the position. Ruy has three years of eligibility remaining.

Malual spent her first two seasons at Chaminade University of Honolulu before transferring to Tennessee, an NCAA Tournament team last year. She recorded 15 kills, three digs and two blocks in her eight appearances with the Volunteers. The 2023 Division II American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America third teamer brings plenty of experience to a young Maryland roster.

With eight seniors graduating and only 13 players on the roster for 2025 so far, the Terps have plenty of room for more transfer additions.
