This is the Maryland Minute, a short story followed by a roundup of Terps-related news.

Maryland women’s tennis released its schedule for the 2024 spring season on Wednesday.

The slate features 25 regular-season matchups before the Big Ten Tournament on April 24-28, hosted by reigning conference champion Michigan. Maryland’s schedule features 13 home matches, nine road matches and three matches at neutral sites.

The Terps’ season will begin on Jan. 20 when they host both Georgetown and George Washington. They will then travel for the ITA Kickoff Weekend, the beginning of a six-match stretch away from College Park.

Maryland kicks off Big Ten play at Nebraska on March 8, with 11 of its last 12 matches coming against conference competition. Until the league tournament, the Terps won’t have to travel during the month of April, finishing the regular season with five straight home matches.

Thirteen of the Terps’ opponents finished in the top 75 of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s end-of-year rankings. Maryland finished No. 52 in the rankings in 2023.

“We’ve been steadily making progress the past couple of years and this is the strongest team I’ve had at Maryland,” head coach Katie Dougherty said in a release.
