Maryland men’s basketball guard Ja’Kobi Gillespie was named to the Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List, it was announced Monday. He was one of 50 players selected by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.
This season, Gillespie leads the Terps with 4.7 assists per game and averages 14.6 points per game — the second-most on the team — while shooting 46.3% from the field and 41.5% from three. He also leads the team with 1.9 steals per game, which ranks sixth in the Big Ten.
The trophy winner will be announced at the NCAA Men’s Final Four in San Antonio, Texas, from April 5-7, and a final watch list will be released in early March.
