Four Maryland wrestlers remain alive and in contention for a podium spot after the first day of the of the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships, with Jaxon Smith advancing to Friday’s quarterfinals.
Smith recorded two pins Thursday to earn his second career quarterfinal appearance. He is one win away from securing the program’s first All-American status since 2019. Ethen Miller, Braxton Brown and Seth Nevills will also compete on Friday.
As a team, the Terps are tied for 16th place with 9.5 team points, the most team points for the program since it totaled 13 in 2019.
