Maryland softball defeated Delaware at Maryland Softball Stadium Wednesday, 5-4. Freshman pitcher Aubrey Wurst shined, allowing no runs in five innings of relief.
Gracie Wilson scored the game-winning run for Maryland in the fifth inning, breaking the 4-4 tie. Delaware had jumped out to a 4-0 lead over the course of the first two innings, but Maryland bounced back to tie the score in the bottom of the second frame.
Julia Shearer hit a home run — her first of the season and second of her career — while Mazie McFarlane and Matti Benson both notched RBI doubles.
