This is a Maryland Minute, a short story followed by a roundup of Terps-related news.

By Sadish Thapa

Maryland men’s basketball forward Julian Reese was selected to play in the 71st annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, an NBA-sponsored event that showcases top college seniors. He took the court Thursday at 7 p.m.

Reese followed in the footsteps of Donta Scott and Jahmir Young, who were invited to last year’s tournament.

Reese wrapped up his Maryland career second all-time in rebounds (1,015), eighth in blocks (179) and fifth in double-doubles (37). With 1,488 career points and 1,015 career rebounds, he joins Len Elmore as the only players in program history to record at least 1,000 in both categories. He averaged 13.3 points and 9.0 rebounds this past season, helping Maryland reach the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2016.
