The 6-foot-4 guard entered the transfer portal on March 31 after the departure of former head coach Kevin Willard, but opted not to follow him to Villanova. Rice has two years of eligibility remaining.
Rice is the sixth transfer from last season’s team to find a new team, and the only one that remained in the Big Ten.
In his only season in College Park, Rice averaged 13.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He shot 43.4% from the field and 37.4% from deep.
The Terps will face their former guard at least once next season. Last season, Maryland defeated USC, 88-71, on Feb 20 at Xfinity Center.
