Maryland women’s tennis nearly took down No. 1-seed Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals, but fell just short, losing 4-3.
After quickly falling behind 3-1, the Terps showed resilience and refused to go quietly. Wins by Diya Challa and Danielle Hack tied the match 3-3, setting up a dramatic finish.
In the final showdown, Maryland’s Kallista Liu battled the nation’s No. 5 player in Julia Flienger to three sets, but Liu ultimately fell, 6-4. Maryland is now one of just two teams nationwide to lose to Michigan by a single point, joining No. 10 Ohio State.
