Maryland baseball catcher Alex Calarco was one of 45 players named to the Golden Spikes Midseason Award Watch List Thursday.
The award is bestowed annually to the best amateur baseball player in the country. Calarco is the first Terp to be mentioned on the midseason list since Matt Shaw in 2023.
Calarco currently bats .327 and has registered seven doubles and 13 home runs on the year. He was the first player in Division I to reach double-digit home runs this season. He also leads the Big Ten in both home runs and RBIs (47).
