Seven Maryland men’s lacrosse players earned USILA All-American honors Thursday afternoon.
Defender Will Schaller highlighted the list of Terps with a first team nod, Eric Kolar and Logan McNaney were named to the second team, Jack McDonald was a third team recognition and Eric Spanos, Braden Erksa and Bryce Ford were honorable mentions.
Schaller was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year after a season in which he led the team with 22 caused turnovers. Kolar’s first career All-American honors succeeded a 10-turnover, eight-ground ball campaign at short-stick defensive midfield. McNaney, one of the program’s all-time goaltenders, set Maryland’s all-time saves record with 743. He’s averaging 11.19 saves per game.
McDonald was recently selected in the second round of the PLL Draft, and led Maryland with 46 ground balls. Spanos, meanwhile, is tied for the team’s lead in points (46), second in goals (30) and second in assists (16). Erksa is tied with Spanos in total points (46) and third on the team with 15 assists. Ford, a graduate transfer midfielder, has 11 multi-point performances and was selected 32nd overall in the PLL Draft.
