This is the Maryland Minute, a short story followed by a roundup of Terps-related news.
Three Terps received American Baseball Coaches Association All-Region honors Friday. Second baseman Sam Hojnar earned a first-team nod, while infielder Eddie Hacopian and pitcher Logan Berrier were named to the second team.
Hojnar played all 56 games for the Terps in 2024, recording a .275 batting average with 15 doubles, 16 home runs and 57 RBIs. Hojnar became the first Terp since Matt Shaw in 2022 to homer in consecutive games. Additionally, he set a career-high with six RBIs against UMBC and matched this feat against Georgetown.
In his second season with Maryland, Hacopian led the team with a .377 batting average and 16 doubles. He also led the Terps in runs scored (53), hits (83), walks (36) and on-base percentage (.474.
Meanwhile, Berrier was the standout pitcher for Maryland throughout the season. He finished the season with a 7-1 record, a 2.81 ERA and 38 strikeouts. His seven saves tied for the ninth-most in a single season in program history.
