This is a Maryland Minute, a short story followed by a roundup of Terps-related news.
Maryland wrestling head coach Alex Clemsen announced the promotion of three assistant coaches, hiring of one and departure of another on Tuesday.
Nick Brascetta was promoted to associate head coach. He has been an assistant coach with the program since Clemsen took over in 2019. Brascetta is best known for his recruiting ability and was a major reason why Maryland had the eighth-ranked recruiting class in 2021.
Elijah Oliver and Ethan Laird were also promoted to full-time assistant coaches, while former Pittsburgh Panther and all-American Cole Matthews was hired as the special assistant to the head coach.
Additionally, assistant coach Devin Mellon, who has also been with the Terps since 2019, left the program to pursue other interests.
