This is a Maryland Minute, a short story followed by a roundup of Terps-related news.

Maryland men’s basketball released its non-conference schedule for the 2025-26 season on Monday. The Terps have eleven games finalized in their first season under head coach Buzz Williams.

Williams’ first game at the Xfinity Center is an October 27 exhibition game against UMBC. The competitive season opener comes a week later against Coppin State in Baltimore. From there, the Terps host three of four: Georgetown and Alcorn State visit College Park, and a trip to play Marquette in Milwaukee precedes a game against Mount St. Mary’s.

During Thanksgiving week, the Terps will be one of 18 teams competing in the Players Era Men’s Championship. Maryland’s guaranteed games come against UNLV and Gonzaga, with records following the two-day slate set to determine additional games.

The Terps wrap up the non-conference slate with three games in December. Between home matchups against Wagner and Old Dominion, they hit the road to reignite a local rivalry against the Virginia Cavaliers.

After playing just one non-conference game against an AP ranked foe in each of the past two seasons, Williams’ willingness to schedule top teams ensures Maryland will be well tested before entering the bulk of Big Ten play.
