Maryland field hockey forward Ella Gaitan was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Gaitan started both games this week and recorded her first career goal against Boston College on Friday. She’s helped the Terps jump out to a 3-1 record in Missy Meharg’s 37th season as head coach.
Gaitan was a member of the 2024 U-21 United States national team this past summer.
