Maryland football senior safety Dante Trader Jr. was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Trader recorded a team-high 11 tackles, an interception and a pass breakup in the Terps’ 27-13 win at Virginia on Saturday.
Led by Trader, Maryland held Virginia scoreless in the second half and forced four turnovers in the game.
He is the first Terp to earn Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week since Tarheeb Still on Nov. 13, 2023.
