Maryland football punter Bryce McFerson was chosen as a Ray Guy Award Ray’s 8 of Week, it was announced Tuesday. The honor is bestowed to the nation’s eight best punters of the week.
McFerson, the redshirt sophomore, belted six punts in Saturday’s 50-7 win over UConn, five of which landed inside the 20-yard line. He averaged 44.8 yards per punt, with his longest traveling 64 yards.
The Notre Dame transfer was the Fighting Irish’s primary punter in 2023, averaging 45.1 yards per boot and placing five punts inside the 20.
