No. 1 Maryland women’s lacrosse rallies to beat No. 2 Michigan, 8-6 | ROUNDUP

Here’s the weekly roundup of men and women’s state college lacrosse games.

Division I men

Navy 10, No. 19 Colgate 9: Henry Tolker (Loyola Blakefield) completed his hat trick with 2:45 left in the third quarter to give the host Mids (6-4, 3-1 Patriot League) the lead, 7-6, for good in a win over the Raiders (6-4, 3-1) on Saturday. Colgate jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first half. Dane Swanson (McDonogh) scored twice for Navy.

No. 20 Quinnipiac 15, Mount St. Mary’s 10: The visiting Mount (1-10, 1-4 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) built an early lead that crumbled under a 6-0 run by the Bobcats (8-1, 4-1) in the fourth quarter Saturday. Brody Atkinson (St. Paul’s) scored three goals for Mount St. Mary’s.

Albany 14, UMBC 13: Brian Tregoning scored a game-high seven goals, but the host Retrievers (3-4, 2-1 America East) fell to the Great Danes (4-5, 3-0) on Saturday. UMBC put together a 3-0 run with two goals by Tregoning and a goal by Mateo Brown (Mt. Hebron) for a one-goal lead with 2:56 left to play, but the Great Danes scored twice over the final 1:47 to win.

Loyola Maryland 12, Lehigh 10: Adam Poitras had a natural hat trick during a 4-0 run in the first half and the host Greyhounds (4-6, 2-2 Patriot) never trailed the Mountain Hawks (4-5, 2-2) on Friday. Poitras finished with a game-high five goals and James Evan had four for Loyola.

Virginia Military Institute 12, Mount St. Mary’s 8: Brody Atkinson (St. Paul’s) scored twice during a 3-0 run to tie the score at 4 in the first half, but the host Mountaineers fell behind and never got closer than two goals the rest of the way Wednesday. Atkinson finished with three goals. The Keydets improved to 5-5, 1-3 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Johns Hopkins 13, Rutgers 8: The visiting Blue Jays (6-3, 1-0 Big Ten) went on a 6-0 run in the first half and beat the Scarlet Knights (6-3, 0-1) on Sunday. Garrett Degnon scored a game-high four goals and Chayse Ierlan made 13 saves for Hopkins.

Division II men

Frostburg State 20, Lake Erie 6: The host Bobcats (8-2) opened with a 7-0 run and routed the Storm (4-6) on Saturday for their fifth straight win. Frostburg State was led by Bubba Love (Westminster) with five goals, Chase Buckwalter (Westminster) with four and Owen McCallum (Manchester Valley) and Austin Sipes with three each.

Frostburg State 22, Davis & Elkins 4: The visiting Bobcats held the Senators (4-6) scoreless in the first half for a 15-0 lead on Wednesday. Owen McCallum (Manchester Valley) and Tyler Dooley each scored four goals and Austin Sipes had three for Frostburg State, which won its fourth straight.

Division III men

Salisbury 22, Kean 13: The visiting Sea Gulls (10-0, 1-0 College Lacrosse Conference) led with a 4-0 run and never trailed the Cougars (7-4, 0-1) on Saturday. Salisbury was led by Luke Nestor (5 goals), Riley Strub (3 goals), Charlie White (3 goals) and Jude Brown (3 goals, John Carroll). Nicholas Ransom made seven saves.

Dickinson 13, St. Mary’s 12, OT: Owen Porter (five goals) scored the game-winner with 1:44 left in overtime and the Red Devils (9-1) beat the Seahawks (7-3) in Sparks on Saturday. Declan Horton scored the tying goal for St. Mary’s with 1:36 left in regulation to force overtime. Joshua Martel (North County) had a game-high six goals for the Seahawks. Horton and Johnny McGrain (Dulaney) each scored twice.

Muhlenberg 17, Washington College 12: The host Shoremen (3-7, 1-2 Centennial) took an early lead that crumbled under a 12-2 run in the second half by the Mules (4-7, 1-2) on Saturday. Connor Garrison scored three goals for Washington College. Wyatt Malia had four goals for Muhlenberg.

Ursinus 12, McDaniel 4: The visiting Bears (5-5, 1-1 Centennial) led with a 6-0 run and beat the Green Terror (7-4, 0-3) on Saturday.  McDaniel scorers included AJ  Johnson (Westminster), Eric Manfredonia, Zach Micklos and Carter Youtz. The loss was the third straight.

Scranton 16, Goucher 8: The visiting Royals (4-6, 2-0 Landmark) used two 5-1 runs to build their lead over the Gophers (6-4, 0-2) on Thursday. Jack Smith made 19 saves for Goucher. James Dugan (Towson) had four goals for the Gophers.

St. Mary’s 29, Rosemont 1: The visiting Seahawks opened with a 9-0 run and routed the Ravens (1-6, 0-1 United East) on Wednesday. Liam McNulty (Severna Park) scored four goals and Adrian Garcia (Glenelg), Joshua Martel (North County), Johnny McGrain (Dulaney) and Brett Weiner (Dulaney) each scored three for St. Mary’s, which won its fourth straight.

Salisbury 20, Catholic 6: The visiting Sea Gulls led with a 13-0 run and routed the Cardinals (5-4) on Wednesday. Ty Keaton scored six goals and Riley Strub had three for Salisbury. Victor Rosado had three goals for Catholic.

Stevenson 16, Elizabethtown 4: Justin Scorese made 12 saves and the host Mustangs (4-5) held the Blue Jays (3-5) to one goal in the first half Wednesday. Stevenson was led by Andrew Searing with four goals and Jack Scaliti with three.

Hood 13, King’s College 11: The visiting Blazers (6-4) led 8-6 in the first half before trading goals with the Monarchs (1-6) in the second half Wednesday. Hood got three goals each from Connor Flok, Rio Muldoon and Robbie Wiley.

Gettysburg 14, McDaniel 5: The host Bullets (5-3, 2-0 Centennial) opened with a 14-0 run and beat the Green Terror on Wednesday. Jason Fritz had a hat trick for McDaniel.

Haverford 16, Washington College 7: The host Fords (6-4, 2-0 Centennial) extended their three-goal lead with a 6-0 run that spanned both halves and beat the Shoremen on Wednesday. Cam Carrrigan (John Carroll) had two goals and two assists for Washington College.

Division I women

No. 1 Maryland 8, No. 2 Michigan 6: Hannah Leubecker score the tying and go-ahead goals in the second half and the visiting Terps (10-2, 3-0 Big Ten) secured a come-from-behind victory over the Wolverines (11-1, 2-1) on Saturday. Michigan went on a 5-0 run that spanned both halves to take a 5-2 lead, but Maryland went on a 4-0 run over the final 6:10. Eloise Clevenger (Marriotts Ridge) led the Terps with a hat trick.

No. 7 Loyola Maryland 20, Colgate 6: The host Greyhounds (10-1, 5-0 Patriot) stretched their one-goal lead with an 8-0 run in the first half and routed the Raiders (1-10, 1-3) on Saturday. Sydni Black tied a career-best seven goals and Chase Boyle had four goals, two assists and a career-best 17 draw controls for Loyola.

No. 17 Navy 21, Bucknell 6: The host Mids (9-3, 3-1 Patriot) opened with a 4-0 run and never trailed the Bison (3-7, 1-3) on Saturday. Navy was led by Emily Messinese (Gerstell) and Tori DiCarolo with four goals each. Lola Leone and Kat McAteer each scored three goals for the Mids.

Mount St. Mary’s 16, Quinnipiac 15: Mackenzi Furlong scored her seventh goal with 9:53 left to play for a 16-12 lead and the visiting Mountaineers (3-7, 1-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) weathered a 3-0 run to outlast the Bobcats (1-8, 0-3) on Saturday. Anna Salerno (Patterson Mill) had four goals for Mount St. Mary’s.

UMBC 14, UMass-Lowell 12: Kolby Weedon (Catonsville) and Grace Bruce (Century) each scored four goals to lead the visiting Retrievers (7-4, 2-1 America East) over the River Hawks (8-3, 0-2) on Saturday. UMBC built a 10-4 lead in the first half. The Retrievers have won three of their past five games.

Hofstra 15, Towson 8: Lindsey Marshall (Catonsville) scored five goals, but the host Tigers (5-6, 2-2 Colonial Athletic Association) fell the Pride (7-4, 4-0) on Saturday. Hofstra led 8-2 in the first half. The loss ended a three-game winning streak.

Towson 11, Jacksonville 6: Lindsey Marshall (Catonsville) scored a career-high six goals to lead the host Tigers over the Dolphins (3-7) on Thursday for their third straight win. Towson trailed by two before going on a 6-1 run in the second quarter.

No. 14 Penn 13, No. 1 Maryland 9: The visiting Quakers (8-1) outscored the Terps in three of four quarters to get the upset win Wednesday. Maryland’s Hannah Leubecker and Penn’s Anna Brandt (Hereford) each finished with four goals.

No. 5 Syracuse 16, No. 7 Loyola Maryland 13: The host Orange (8-3) used a 5-0 run in the third quarter to extend their lead over the Greyhounds on Wednesday. Loyola’s Chase Boyle and Syracuse’s Emma Tyrrell each scored six goals.

Saint Joseph’s 14, No. 17 Navy 13: The visiting Mids’ (8-3) five-goal lead crumbled in the fourth quarter when the Hawks (5-5) went on a 7-1 run Wednesday. Kate Fuhrman (Glenelg Country) scored the go-ahead goal on an assist from Alexa Capozzolli with 3:19 left to play. Emily Messinese (Gerstell) scored a game-high five goals for Navy.

Niagara 14, Mount St. Mary’s 10: The visiting Purple Eagles (8-2, 1-1 MAAC) broke a tie with a 7-3 run in the fourth quarter and beat the Mount on Wednesday. Anna Salerno (Patterson Mill) had three goals and Hailey Chester had two for Mount St. Mary’s.

Maryland 13, Rutgers 8: Emily Sterling (John Carroll) made eight saves and the host Terps beat the Scarlet Knights (5-5, 0-3 Big Ten) on Sunday. Maryland took an early 6-1 lead before being held scoreless in the second quarter. Hannah Leubecker had a game-high six goals for the Terps.

Towson 11, Delaware 6: Jo Torres (St. Mary’s) made 13 saves and the visiting Tigers beat the Blue Hens (7-3) on Sunday. Lindsey Marshall (Catonsville) had a hat trick for Towson.

Division II women

Frostburg State 23, West Virginia Wesleyan 1: Host Frostburg State (5-5) scored 23 goals straight and routed West Virginia Wesleyan (4-6) on Wednesday. Frostburg State was led by Neila Haney (4 goals), Camden DeMaio (3 goals) and Brittyn Leonard (3 goals).

Division III

St. Mary’s 20, Cedar Crest 0: The visiting Seahawks (6-5, 2-0 United East) led 11-0 in the first quarter and routed the Falcons (4-2, 0-1) on Saturday. St. Mary’s outshot Cedar Crest, 40-3. The Seahawks were led by Hailey Betch (Severna Park) and Katelin Scala (Mount de Sales) each with four goals.

Salisbury 9, York (Pa.) 6: The host Sea Gulls (9-2) opened the second half with a 3-0 run and never trailed the Spartans (3-6) again on Saturday. Salisbury was led by Miranda Mears with three goals and Leah Vilov with two.

Ursinus 18, McDaniel 8: The visiting Bears (6-4, 1-1 Centennial) took an 8-0 lead and beat the Green Terror (6-4, 1-1) on Saturday. Paris Conord had four goals and Emma Miller (Marriotts Ridge) had three goals for McDaniel.

Gettysburg 19, Washington College 7: The visiting Bullets (8-2, 2-0 Centennial) opened with a 10-0 run and beat the Shorewomen (7-3, 1-1) on Saturday. Washington College scorers included Ellie Bossi (Garrison Forest), Elisabeth Braswell, Tobin Chambers (Broadneck), Ashley Devlin, Piper Evans, Mia Salvatierra (Fallston) and Anna Wilson (Bryn Mawr).

Wilson 19, Notre Dame (Md.) 5: The visiting Phoenix (7-2, 1-0 Colonial States Athletic Conference) took a 10-2 lead in the first half and beat the Gators (2-4, 0-1) on Saturday. Jill Ahlgren and Sage Lague each scored a game-high seven goals for Wilson. Jade Stewart had a hat trick for Notre Dame.

Stevenson 10, Mary Washington 9, 3OT: Kellyann Coccia (Harford Tech) scored the game-winner with two seconds left in the third overtime to lift the visiting Mustangs over the Eagles on Friday. Erin Steinberg (Towson) had four goals, Kara Yarusso had three and Coccia had two. Mary Washington’s Molly Daw (Hereford) led all scorers with five goals.

Scranton 19, Goucher 3: The host Royals (6-2, 1-0 Landmark) opened with an 8-0 run and routed the Gophers (2-6, 0-1) on Thursday. Goucher got a goal each from Tatiana Emeruwa (Chesapeake), Camden West and Bailey Schneeman (Westminster).

Salisbury 15, Messiah 4: The visiting Sea Gulls opened with a 6-0 run and beat the Falcons (1-8) on Wednesday. Erin Scannell (John Carroll) scored three goals for Salisbury. The Sea Gulls got two goals each from Lauren Hackett (Century), Caroline Knight and Regan McDonnell (Severna Park).

Notre Dame (Md.) 20, Waynesburg 6: The host Gators stretched their four-goal lead over the Yellow Jackets (1-7) with an 8-0 run that spanned both halves Monday. Jade Stewart had a game-high six goals and Emma Alascia (Winters Mill) had four goals for Notre Dame.
