After the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Wednesday, institutions and public officials have stepped up security nationwide, underscoring growing concerns about political violence, especially toward public officials and on college campuses.
On Thursday, both Maryland House Speaker Adrienne Jones and Senate President Bill Ferguson reported on X that they had received bomb threats. Also, multiple colleges received threats, with numerous historically Black colleges and universities implementing campus lockdowns.
