This graduation season, the biggest names to deliver commencement addresses to Maryland institutions came from the heights of government and puppeteering.
Friday at the U.S. Naval Academy, Vice President JD Vance called out the previous administration’s foreign policy, trumpeted technology investments and called on midshipmen to take “multiple perspectives” as leaders. The evening prior, Kermit the Frog’s speech to University of Maryland, College Park, graduates centered around love and connection. Maryland First Lady Dawn Moore also encouraged collaboration in her address to the University of Baltimore the day before, and, the previous week, her husband, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, announced his intention to end Maryland’s racial wealth gap at the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore’s ceremony.
