A Bel Air teen was arrested following an investigation into a restroom fire at Harford Mall on Sunday.
Just before 5:30 p.m., the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Department and Bel Air Police Department responded to a report of a fire in a restroom at Harford Mall and found that that mall security officers had extinguished the fire in the men’s restroom.
Concerned about how the fire might have started, mall officials requested that the Office of the State Fire Marshal investigate.
The inquiry determined a hand soap dispenser had been deliberately set on fire. Investigators, working with Bel Air police, identified a teenage suspect.
The teen now faces a series of charges, including first- and second-degree arson, malicious burning in the second degree, and malicious destruction of property valued at less than $1,000.
