Terps in the NFL: D.J. Moore and Chad Ryland impress in season finale

Here’s how former Maryland football players performed in the NFL this past week.

The 18th and final week of the NFL regular season featured Maryland football alumni leading their teams to winning efforts.

Bears wide receiver D.J. Moore dominated the passing game in Chicago’s 24-22 win at the Green Bay Packers Sunday. Moore posted a game-high nine catches for 86 yards, which included a screen pass Moore took 32 yards down the right sideline for a touchdown to start the fourth quarter.

No other Bear or Packer had more than five catches. The touchdown reception was Moore’s first since Thanksgiving Day.

Moore also served as a special teams decoy on Chicago’s first touchdown of the game. He set up to catch Green Bay’s opening punt of the game, deking the Packers as teammate Josh Blackwell caught the punt on the opposite sideline and returned the kick 94 yards for a score.

Arizona Cardinals kicker Chad Ryland was busy in a 47-24 win over the San Francisco 49ers Sunday. He made both of his field goal attempts from 51 and 49 yards out, while setting a single-game career high by going 5 for 5 on extra-point attempts. Ryland finished the season 26-of-27 on extra-point tries and has made every field goal attempt over the last four games.

Chicago Bears defensive tackle Byron Cowart made another big play in his final game of the season. After recording 0.5 sacks over his first 13 games this year, Cowart’s fourth-quarter sack against Green Bay marked his second in as many weeks.

• Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson made two tackles, one of which was a tackle for loss.

• Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Rakim Jarrett and Tennessee Titans tight end Chig Okonkwo both played but didn’t receive a target. It was Okonkwo’s first such game since his rookie season.
• San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Sam Okuayinonu contributed a career-high four tackles in his 22nd career game.
• Los Angeles Chargers rookie cornerback Tarheeb Still tied a career-high with seven total tackles.
• Jacksonville Jaguars safety Darnell Savage posted a season-high eight tackles.
• Buffalo Bills running back Ty Johnson recorded two carries for 13 yards, a catch for no gain and a special teams tackle.
• Colts safety Nick Cross made seven tackles in Indianapolis’ overtime win.
• Las Vegas Raiders right tackle D.J. Glaze started his 14th consecutive game this season.
• New York Giants cornerback Deonte Banks assisted on a tackle.
• Baltimore Ravens rookie safety Beau Brade and Cleveland Browns guard Michael Dunn played against each other Saturday.
• Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Spencer Anderson saw the field during Saturday’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
• Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Jakorian Bennett remained on injured reserve.
• Seattle Seahawks tight end Tyler Mabry remained on the team’s practice squad.
