Here’s how former Maryland football players performed in the NFL this past week.
In Week 1 of NFL action, Houston Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs wasted no time acclimating to his new team. Diggs hauled in all six of his targets for 33 yards and both touchdowns thrown by quarterback C.J. Stroud against the Indianapolis Colts.
Diggs’ final catch, a 2-yard touchdown on fourth-and-goal, represented the game-winning score with under five minutes to play in Houston’s 29-27 road win.

Against Diggs’ Texans, Indianapolis Colts safety Nick Cross was all over the field in a losing effort. The third-year safety made a game-high 14 tackles with eight solo tackles, setting a new career-high in both departments through 34 career games.
Tennessee Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo also contributed with a Week 1 touchdown, scoring in the second quarter on a 17-yard pass against the Chicago Bears. Okonkwo finished the game with two catches for 15 yards and the Titans’ lone receiving touchdown in a 17-14 loss at Soldier Field.

Playing the Titans, Chicago Bears wide receiver D.J. Moore had a quieter day than usual in his first game with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. Moore had five catches and 36 yards on eight targets from Williams, also rushing for a 14-yard gain. Moore had less than 40 receiving yards in just three games with Chicago last season.
