On this week’s episode of the Under the Shell Podcast, hosts Brendan Weissel, Sam Jane and Michael Howes are joined by Maryland football commit Malik Washington.
Washington is the No. 5 quarterback and No. 2 player in Maryland, according to 247Sports. The senior passed for 2,979 yards and 29 touchdowns this season for Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Maryland — winning the school’s third straight Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association title. Washington also posted 167 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns.
Washington discussed his commitment to Maryland and the #freegrandma craze on X. He also explored areas where he can improve on the field and his excitement to enroll early next semester.
“I made my commitment for a reason, through the good and the bad,” Washington said. “This is where I want to be at because I want to help build. Part of the building is setting the foundation. You can’t really build on something that’s already done.”
