On this week’s episode of the Under the Shell Podcast, hosts Brendan Weissel, Sam Jane and Michael Howes are joined by Maryland quarterback Justyn Martin.
Martin transferred to Maryland in December after attending UCLA — completing 24 passes in 35 attempts for 179 yards and one touchdown. The redshirt junior is competing with freshman Malik Washington for this fall’s starting role.
The UCLA transfer quarterback discussed why he chose Maryland, how his faith fuels him and what he’s learned from competing for the starting job in a new-look Terps offense.
“I was just looking for opportunity… and they made it clear that there’d be opportunity here. I feel like God put me here for a reason,” Martin said.
“Coach Locks has developed many different quarterbacks and many different styles of play… there’s a consistency just with quarterback in general.”
The hosts also discussed the upcoming NCAA tournaments for the Maryland lacrosse teams, softball’s disappointing season and baseball picking up their first series win.
