1,000-yard wideout, Tee Higgins is not getting a contract extension so a trade request could be on the horizon. According to a report, it seems like the receiver’s time is running out since both sides will not agree to the July 15 deadline to come to terms on a long-term deal. Higgins has been the hot topic other than Brandon Aiyuk and Courtland Sutton to not receive a new deal so it looks like he’ll be moving on from the team next offseason. However, it may be smart for the Bengals to listen to trade suitors now that he’s healthy.
He may be playing this year on a one-year franchise tender but this doesn’t mean he’ll be participating in this year’s training camp. Higgins may not be playing up to his potential this upcoming season so the best thing to do is trade him to avoid any animosity in the locker room. Cincinnati does not want to see him go after placing a franchise tag on him in February but the team has been stalling to give him a new contract. It left with Higgins requesting for a trade which the Bengals didn’t grant him so one should expect him to request again.
It will be interesting to see what the Bengals will do in handling this situation and other future contracts like fellow receiver, Ja’Marr Chase. The team can’t afford to have two superstars on the same team with their asking price so no one should expect them to be together any longer. Chase made it seem like he’s not looking to take a pay cut to keep Higgins around. However, the team would be missing Joe Burrow’s favorite target if Higgins leaves so they have some hard decisions to make.

Next Possible Teams
Kansas City Chiefs
This would cause frustration for the Bengals for not striking a deal but the Chiefs need a reliable No. 1 receiver for the future. Kansas City had this before shipping away Tyreek Hill a couple of years ago but they do bring in a similar replica of him in Xavier Worthy. However, luck hasn’t been on the side for the Chiefs as far as legal troubles, especially for Rashee Rice who’s going to miss some time this year. Don’t expect for incoming wideout, Marquise Brown to be explosive come week one since he has a lot on his plate to lead this core group.
It may be a lot of pressure for a team that only has Kadarius Toney, Mecole Hardman and Skyy Moore behind him.
Baltimore Ravens
The thought of Lamar Jackson throwing darts at both Zay Flowers and Higgins would probably make them the team to dethrone the Chiefs. Baltimore has the blueprint but it seems like it’s every season that they’re one ingredient away from the being at the mountaintop. It should surprise a lot of people that Rashod Bateman is coming back on a contract extension after the disappointing 2023 campaign he put up. Nelson Agholor only provides some upside for a short period but bringing in someone like Higgins would change the landscape of this offense.
Los Angeles Chargers
This fit probably won’t see Higgins in play for a Super Bowl in a while but it grants him the spotlight if the Chargers look into him. Justin Herbert is a top-5 quarterback so it’s hard to imagine what type of player he will be now after losing Mike Williams and Keenan Allen. Guys like DJ Chark, Quentin Johnson and Josh Palmer aren’t keeping him in the MVP conversations anymore. The only receiver on the depth chart that is showing promise is Ladd McConkey.
