2,500-Yard Wideout Might Be On Trade Block – Ravens, Chiefs Among Destinations

October 21, 2024 by Last Word On Pro Football

After acquiring Davante Adams, the 2,500-yard wideout Garrett Wilson will likely be on the trade block and the Ravens, Chiefs are among the four possible destinations. According to multiple reports, the Jets probably won’t be only shopping for Mike Williams, but they might also put Wilson on there. Several teams have been reaching out to the 23-year-old but the Jets aren’t looking to trade him. New York is in a ‘win now” mode since finally reaching an agreement with edge defender Haason Reddick.

However, if the Jets continue to lose, they might be open to trading Wilson. Originally selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, the wideout is establishing himself as a high-profile target posting 1,000-yard seasons despite playing under Zach Wilson who had a poor offensive performance. Wilson is struggling to establish chemistry with 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers this 2024 campaign. To no fault of his own since he may now have too many targets to work with which could make Wilson expendable.

Schefter says that the teams reaching out were willing to extend him this upcoming offseason. Time can only tell what happens to Wilson but it shouldn’t surprise anyone if he doesn’t remain with the team in the next upcoming weeks.

Potential Trade Destinations

Baltimore Ravens

This move seems like a no-brainer for the Ravens if they’re looking ahead to their future. They have a true WR1 in Zay Flowers but struggle to depend on Rashod Bateman and Nelson Agholor as their long-term starters. Both wideouts are durable as long as this offense is ferocious in their running game since Lamar Jackson is struggling already to enhance their pass attack. Some say Mike Williams could be an ideal investment but Wilson might be a better option in terms of having a stable pass catcher for the long haul alongside Flowers.

Kansas City Chiefs

Since Patrick Mahomes might want Travis Kelce to thrive in January, he’s depending on reserve players like JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman and Skyy Moore to step up. However, since Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown are done for the year, they should probably think about how they want the long-term investment alongside rookie Xavier Worthy. The reality is that they probably won’t bring Brown again and even if it happens, it might just be a short-term option for the entire offense.

The Chiefs should consider building an offense for the future to continue giving the passing game life. They can’t risk guys like Worthy taking on full-time snaps since he’s still inexperienced.

Los Angeles Chargers

The new regime for the Chargers after drafting Ladd McConkey seems obvious they’re better off trading for Wilson. Mike Williams is nothing more but a short-term option even though they need results now. However, Jim Harbaugh is still building and since losing Keenan Allen and Austin Ekeler, they could start that journey as soon as before the trade deadline. Wilson isn’t getting the proper playing time and probably will find himself in a nicer role sharing the routes with McConkey as the new true two-cornerstone.

New Orleans Saints

The Saints are probably one of the teams that they contacted Wilson for. After releasing A.T. Perry, the passing game has been taking a hit since losing Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed. It’s fair to say this New Orleans season is over since Derek Carr will come back too late. Trading for someone like Wilson will give them a true dependable option alongside Olave beyond this 2024 campaign.
