5 Trade Destinations For Former First-Round Wide Recevier

October 10, 2023 by Last Word On Pro Football

Jerry Jeudy Trade

The Denver Broncos are free-falling and, at 1-4, are likely to sell big-name players like Jerry Jeudy at the trade deadline. With Courtland Sutton serving as the top option in this passing attack, the Broncos could easily part ways with the Alabama product for the right draft compensation. Wide receivers have never been more important in today’s NFL, and while Jeudy never quite played up to his draft capital, he’s still a good player that should fetch a solid return on the open market.

Previously, we discussed a Frank Clark trade and noted that the Broncos would likely be willing to trade him to any team in the league, even a divisional foe like the Kansas City Chiefs. That is not the case for Jeudy. While Clark is in the final year of his deal and on the older side, Jeudy still has two years of team control and is only in his age-24 season. Denver will want to compete in 2024, and they’re not going to send him to a divisional foe.

5 Teams That Should Trade For Jerry Jeudy

Carolina Panthers

It should go without saying that the Carolina Panthers are not going to win the Super Bowl this year. Most teams trading for players at the deadline are contenders, and the Panthers certainly don’t fit the bill there. However, this team desperately needs to bring in some help for Bryce Young, and they need to do it as soon as possible. The first-overall pick has shown some signs of life over the past few weeks, but he has largely looked like the worst of the three first-round quarterbacks. However, you can’t really blame him for the subpar results when his best receiver is 33-year-old Adam Thielen. Adding Jerry Jeudy via trade will give the Panthers two adequate receivers and give Young the opportunity to actually show what he can do at the game’s highest level.

Tennessee Titans

The Tennesee Titans are currently 2-3 and just one game out of the AFC South race. The defense is as strong as ever, and they could make a push for the divisional crown if they get more help at the wide receiver position. DeAndre Hopkins has proven to be a good investment, but 2022 first-round pick Treylon Burks has yet to prove he can be a reliable part of a passing attack. Jerry Jeudy would be a wise trade addition, as he can provide some much-needed security at the position. In a worst-case scenario, he and Hopkins can form an above-average duo for Ryan Tannehill. In a best-case scenario, Burks can come back, play up to his draft capital, and give Tannehill three reliable options on every single play.

Baltimore Ravens

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: the Baltimore Ravens need some help at wide receiver. Rookie Zay Flowers is off to a hot start, but the rest of the depth chart is not carrying their weight. Odell Beckham looks like just another guy, and Rashod Bateman isn’t doing much of anything. Lamar Jackson could use another set of hands, and Jerry Jeudy might just be the best realistic option available. The savvy route runner is an ideal fit for Todd Monken’s offense and should be able to establish himself as the second or third option in this passing attack in just a few weeks.

New England Patriots

Much like the Carolina Panthers, the New England Patriots are going nowhere fast in 2023. However, their offense is absolutely atrocious, and they need to add somebody capable of beating man coverage. Juju Smith-Schuster looks like a waste of money, and DeVante Parker is only good as a contested-catch specialist. Jerry Jeudy actually has the ability to get open, and the Patriots should consider executing a trade and providing a much-needed influx of talent.

Buffalo Bills

At its best, the 2023 Buffalo Bills offense looks as unstoppable as ever. However, the unit is not as consistent as usual, and this is probably due to the lack of options at wide receiver. Stefon Diggs remains one of the best players in the league, but the rest of the depth chart leaves something to be desired. Gabriel Davis can still be the occasional deep play threat, but this offense needs another reliable chain mover. Jerry Jeudy is an ideal fit for this role, and the Bills should consider a trade so they can capitalize on their Super Bowl window.
