When the Ravens placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Lamar Jackson this Tuesday, fans around the country thought a bidding war would break out.
So far, there haven’t been any suitors for Jackson’s services. That’s a bit surprising considering he’s a former MVP.
On Thursday, uSTADIUM reportedly spoke to a front office member of a team that could potentially show interest in Jackson.
When asked about the Lamar Jackson sweepstakes, this anonymous front office member had a telling response.
“Why should we do DeCosta’s dirty work for him? They’re just going to match any offer anyway,” the front office member said.
The belief was that Baltimore used the non-exclusive tag so Jackson could see what his market was this offseason. The front office could then, in theory, match any offer sheet he signed.
With that said, it seems like the Ravens are the overwhelming favorites to sign Jackson to a deal this year.
