As of Friday, votes had been counted for 100,067 of Carroll County’s 129,250 registered voters, according to the Maryland State Board of Elections, including those cast by mail, early voting and on election day Tuesday.
The first mail-in ballot canvass in Carroll was completed Thursday. On Nov. 13, provisional ballots will be counted, and on Nov. 15 any additional counting will be completed.
Of the ballots counted so far in Carroll, 60,617 (61.08%) voted for Republican President-Elect Donald Trump, and 35,215 (35.49%) cast a ballot for Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris.
In the U.S. Senate race, 24,911 (25.25%) voted for Democrat Senator-Elect Angela Alsobrooks and 70,094 (71.06%) for Republican former Gov. Larry Hogan.
In the District 2 Congressional race, Republican Kim Klacik garnered 52,272 (61.65%) of Carroll’s votes, while Democrat John “Johnny O” Olszewski, Jr. collected 30,447 (35.91%) votes. Olszewski won that race, statewide.
In the District 3 Congressional race, Republican Robert J. Steinberger earned the most votes in Carroll, with 7,075 (62.59%). Democrat Sarah Elfreth, the statewide winner, finished with 3,970 (35.12%).
Two seats were up for grabs in the nonpartisan Board of Election race in Carroll. Greg Malveaux finished first with 45,846 (28.98%) votes, followed by Kristen E. Zihmer with 43,998 (27.81%). Amanda Jozkowski was in third with 39,342 (24.87%) votes, and Muri Lynn Dueppen was fourth with 28,389 (17.94%).
Of those registered to vote in Carroll, 33,301 are Democrats, 64,209 are Republicans and 30,503 are unaffiliated. The Libertarian Party has 845 voters, the No Label Movement has 136, the Green Party has 132 and 1,199 are considered “other.”
