This is Weaver’s second reported interview request for an NFL head coaching position, after the Washington Commanders reportedly requested him earlier this week.

In 2021, the Ravens added Weaver as their defensive line coach and immediately saw dividends. The run defense finished No. 1 in the NFL, holding opponents to 85.4 yards per game. The third-down defense ranked No. 3 in the NFL, allowing conversions on 34.8%.

Last season, the defense ranked No. 3 scoring defense (18.5 ppg), run defense (92.1 ypg) and defensive red zone TD% (46.4).

Weaver was promoted in 2022 to also becoming the Ravens’ Assistant Head Coach. According to Head Coach John Harbaugh, Weaver led the committee to finding a new offensive coordinator after Greg Roman’s departure.

“We had a committee led by [assistant head coach and defensive line] coach Anthony Weaver, who did a great job,” Harbaugh said at Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken’s introductory press conference. “[Scouting information & research manager] Steve Clagett was on the committee, and [director of football research] Scott Cohen was on the committee. Those guys interviewed Todd [Monken], and they interviewed all the other candidates, too, pretty thoroughly. So, I appreciate those guys’ efforts, and they weighed in on the decision.

Weaver’s been a highly respected member of the Ravens organization both as a coach and a player when he we was drafted by Baltimore with the No. 52 overall pick in the 2002 NFL draft. Weaver played four years for the Ravens, producing 144 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, 14.5 sacks and five forced fumbles.
