The Buffalo Bills could use another receiver, and Terrace Marshall might be available in trade talks. Originally selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the LSU product lept up draft boards after he dominated without Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson stealing all the targets. Unfortunately, his successful final collegiate season has not translated to the NFL. During his three years in the league, the wideout has recorded a combined 64 receptions for 767 yards and one touchdown.
These numbers leave a lot to be desired, and the Panthers spent the offseason trying to find upgrades at the position. The team traded for Diontae Johnson, selected Xavier Legette in the first round, and is probably holding out hope for Jonathan Mingo in Year 2. With this in mind, Terrace Marshall could be on the trade block. According to Bleacher Report, the Buffalo Bills could take a flier on the former second-round pick.
Buffalo Bills Linked to Terrace Marshall In Trade Talks
Following the Stefon Diggs trade, the Bills need as much help as possible at wide receiver. Keon Coleman has upside, but nobody should put too much faith in any individual rookie. The rest of the roster features decent depth players like Curtis Samuel and Khalil Shakir. Tight end Dalton Kincaid will provide another reliable set of hands in the passing game, but Buffalo could trade a seventh-round pick for a low-risk, medium-reward player like Terrace Marshall.
The wide receiver has not played well at the professional level, but he has never had a reliable quarterback. While his inability to earn targets implies he doesn’t have what it takes to play ball at the highest level, a change of scenery could bring out the best in him. Of course, Buffalo won’t be the only team trying to secure his services if Terrace Marshall is on the trade block.
Other Potential Destinations
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers have one receiver with above-average potential in Ladd McConkey and not much else. 2023 first-round pick Quentin Johnston could turn it around, but he’d need a historic second year to overcome his atrocious start. With all the proven options off the board, Los Angeles could trade a late-round pick to see what Terrace Marshall can bring. If you squint hard enough, Marshall’s ability to win in contested situations is similar to Mike Williams, and he could compete for a similar role in this offense.
Kansas City Chiefs
Rashee Rice is an idiot and might miss the entire 2024 season. If that happens, Patrick Mahomes will have to rely on two promising players who have never caught a pass from him: Marquise Brown and first-round rookie Xavier Worthy. These two both have a high ceiling, but it remains to be seen how they’ll mesh with the three-time Super Bowl champion. Terrace Marshall might not be great, but the Chiefs can trade for him and watch him compete with Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore for a depth spot.
Pittsburgh Steelers
Terrace Marshall might not be as exciting as DK Metcalf or Courtland Sutton, but the Steelers could still trade for him. George Pickens is the real deal, but this team must find someone else capable of starting opposite him. Marshall is anything but a safe bet, but he can compete with the rest of Pittsburgh’s questionable depth chart for a spot on the roster.
Dallas Cowboys
This could be the last year the Dallas Cowboys have Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons on the roster. Instead of capitalizing on this, owner Jerry Jones has done next to nothing to improve his roster. Dallas could use a complimentary receiver opposite Lamb, and since Jones seems unwilling to spend on the open market, he could go the cheap route and trade for Terrace Marshall. The former second-round pick is essentially free and the Cowboys could hope a change of scenery brings out the best in the LSU product.
Baltimore Ravens
Zay Flowers is the real deal, but Baltimore needs someone to step up at the WR2 position. Rashod Bateman didn’t do much of anything in 2023, Devontez Walker is a fourth-round pick with limited expectations, and Nelson Agholor is better off as depth. Terrace Marshall is nothing special, but the trade candidate’s large frame gives the Ravens a potential contested-catch winner that this roster sorely needs.
