The Baltimore Ravens will need to address many different needs during the 2022 offseason. The team finished the 2021 with an 8-9 record, which is a far cry from many of the expectations that were placed on them before the season began.
When putting together a list of one move that each NFL team should avoid in the 2022 offseason, David Kenyon of Bleacher Report said that Baltimore should avoid overpaying center Bradley Bozeman. He explained his thought process by talking about a report from Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic that there is mutual interest between the two sides but a big gap to bridge.
“Back in January, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reported there is mutual interest in a reunion but a “significant gap to bridge” for the contract. Since then, not much has changed—and Baltimore only has about $8.4 million of cap space, per Over the Cap.”
While there are some moves that the Ravens can make to free up cap space in the coming weeks, the team will have to figure out how to maneuver through free agency without having as much money as some other teams to spend.
If Bozeman departs from Baltimore, it would leave a sizable hole in the middle of their offensive line. The team could choose to commit a large portion of money to the center, but if not they’ll need to find a viable replacement quickly. Bozeman has earned every penny of any contract that he signs, and whether it’s with the Ravens or not remains to be seen.
