Bleacher Report names Ravens' to-do list for remainder of 2022 offseason

May 27, 2022 by Ravens Wire

The Baltimore Ravens have had a rather busy 2022 offseason, bringing in new talent, seeing contributors from 2021 move on, and re-signing some of their own players. However, there is still plenty of time remaining until the 2022 regular season kicks off, which means that Baltimore could still make a few moves.

When putting together to-do lists for each NFL team for the rest of the 2022 offseason, Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report mentioned three steps that he believes the Ravens should take. He first talked about the team extending quarterback Lamar Jackson, talking about how the team could play his contract situation.

“Maybe the Baltimore Ravens also play the waiting game with the franchise tag (or two) in the organization’s back pocket. But the quarterback’s happiness is crucial to the team’s long-term projections, since the entire offense is built around Jackson’s unique skill set.”

He then mentions that the team should sign a veteran wide receiver, listing off multiple options who could be fits for Baltimore.

“Speaking of which, added weapons in the passing game would go a long way in assuaging the situation. After trading Marquise Brown to the Arizona Cardinals, the Ravens should look to add a Julio Jones, Will Fuller V or Odell Beckham Jr. in free agency.”

Sobleski finally mentions the potential trade of Chuck Clark and what the veteran could fetch as a return.

“Conversely, Baltimore’s group of safeties is loaded after the acquisition of this year’s 14th overall pick, Kyle Hamilton. Chuck Clark has been a key contributor to the defense, but a potential trade could bring back valuable assets, either through next year’s draft or another veteran.”

Extending Jackson is something that the Ravens’ organization has been very vocal about wanting to do, but it seems like the quarterback is content with waiting until at least after the 2022 season to engage the team. Signing a veteran receiver could be a good idea for the team considering how little experience the team has in their current group of wideouts, while trading Clark wouldn’t be an ideal situation. However, if the veteran safety ends up wanting to move on and pursue another opportunity, Baltimore would likely trade him based off of their previous history with players who want out.
