There’s a lot of competition going on this offseason, but quarterback Joe Flacco could be a possible cut candidate before the 2025 regular season starts. According to Bleacher Report, the source believes the Browns may release Flacco after months of re-signing him this offseason, since they have too many quarterbacks in their unit. It was looking like a competition between Kenny Pickett, Deshaun Watson and Flacco, but that was until the Browns added two more promising signal-callers in Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel. This could leave Flacco on the back burner as he already is barely getting any practice reps, so could that signal a sign of a release?
Originally selected in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft, the former Delaware product made comeback strides in Cleveland for the 2023 campaign after becoming a journeyman for the rest of his career, since having spent most of his career as a Baltimore Raven. Flacco was named the NFL Comeback Player of the Year after helping the Browns to a postseason when it was looking like they were going off the rails that season. However, his second tenure with Cleveland could be over before he gets started, as the likelihood is that the Browns may keep four active quarterbacks while one will get cut before the 2025 campaign.

Breaking: Browns Quarterback Joe Flacco Could Be a Cut Candidate – Saints, Ravens Top Fits
Saving the Saints
Since Aaron Rodgers is going to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the New Orleans Saints still remain without a capable veteran quarterback who can save this season. Between Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler, the Saints don’t have a promising signal-caller who can at least guide this depleted offense to a wild-card round this year. However, Flacco knows how to turn a changing team around after doing that with the Browns in which surprised several insiders and fans across the league. Joe Flacco doesn’t have much gas left at 40 years old, but he has at least more seasons to help change a roster around before he hangs up his cleats.
The veteran still wants to start and does not plan to retire anytime soon, but it’s hard to imagine Flacco has at least five more seasons in him. The Saints refuse to rebuild even though they have a new head coach, Kellen Moore, and a new offensive system that’s coming together gradually with some veteran presence from Brandin Cooks. Flacco won’t be the same, but whoever eventually takes over as the long-term starter for this offense will be in better hands if they learn from one of the greats in the league, and Flacco could have one more real shot at an NFC Championship Game at least.
Ending a Long Career
Meanwhile, no one should rule out a possible reunion between the Baltimore Ravens and Joe Flacco. Despite signing Cooper Rush to finally salvage this quarterback room behind Lamar Jackson, Flacco is arguably the better fit to end his long-term career in the NFL. Jackson is one of the best quarterbacks right now, but he has failed to reach the Super Bowl even though they’re close every year. Perhaps, they could use the presence of Flacco, someone who has won the trophy before with John Harbaugh, and guide Jackson.
