Breaking: Buccaneers Could Trade Former 2023 Draft Pick

August 12, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

After getting several offensive weapons in the offseason, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could trade former 2023 draft pick wide receiver Trey Palmer before the 2025 campaign. According to NFLTradeRumors, the Buccaneers could ship away at least one of their wide receivers, and Palmer might be the one who could be on the move. After drafting Emeka Egbuka, Tampa Bay has a lot of weapons for quarterback Baker Mayfield, which spells bad news for some of the wideouts that probably won’t receive a ton of looks. Even though Sterling Shepard has been in several trade rumors, the Buccaneers probably won’t get much out of him, but Palmer might bring at least a future worthy potential draft pick that could serve the team for the long term.

Jalen McMillan was also a name in recent rumors, so the Buccaneers will have to decide, maybe sooner rather than later, on what they will do. If they endure a losing season, they could be more comfortable with sending some of their talent. However, no one should rule out the possibility of a trade if the Buccaneers receive an offer that they can turn down. Palmer has the skills and versatility to be a reliable slot receiver, but he’s unproven, and that won’t stop a team from pursuing him.

Breaking: Buccaneers Could Trade Former 2023 Draft Pick Trey Palmer – 4 Possible Destinations

Best Fits

Los Angeles Chargers

After getting KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Tre Harris in this year’s draft, the Los Angeles Chargers should continue to build a new offense for quarterback Justin Herbert. The team can’t afford to keep bringing back nostalgic receivers like Mike Williams (who just retired) and Keenan Allen if they want to be in the Super Bowl one day. Last offseason, they got head coach Jim Harbaugh, so why should do move backwards, especially when 2024 draft pick Ladd McConkey put on a promising campaign in his rookie season. Palmer won’t breakout in his first year with the Chargers, but he could be a reliable weapon in the slot paired with McConkey.

Baltimore Ravens

Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens have yet to find a long-term WR3 behind Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman. Despite them signing veteran DeAndre Hopkins this offseason, they can’t afford to keep snagging one-year wideouts forever. Trey Palmer isn’t going to take snaps away from Bateman or Flowers, but he has a similar size and physical threat to be a ferocious weapon, especially when Lamar Jackson has one of the greatest arms in the league.

Washington Commanders

However, the Washington Commanders are still trying to find a way to extend Terry McLaurin before the 2025 season at least. Deebo Samuel has had a disappointing offseason, but things can always change once he’s out on the field. Luke McCaffrey and Michael Gallup are unproven, so it feels like there’s still a hole in the pass-attack for Jayden Daniels. Palmer isn’t going to be a WR2, but he has the potential to separate the offense in a good way.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have two talented weapons in CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, but they could be lacking a third if Jalen Tolbert and Jonathan Mingo can’t step up. Dak Prescott can’t afford to rely on Jake Ferguson for most of his throws, as he could run out of gas very early in the season. Palmer could be another possible unproven wideout that the Cowboys might take a chance on.
