Breaking: “Elite” Receiver Could Be On Trade Block

January 27, 2026 by Last Word On Pro Football

The Chicago Bears have an abundance of pass-catching weapons, and all the talent in the room could make D.J. Moore a logical trade candidate. A former first-round pick, the wide receiver spent his early years with the Carolina Panthers before joining the Chicago Bears in 2023. He immediately became the top option in the passing attack. However, he fell down the depth chart this year, and it’s hard to see that changing with Luther Burden, Colston Loveland, and Rome Odunze all on the roster.

D.J. Moore is still a good wide receiver, but he’s worth less to the Bears than he would be to most other franchises. Seeing as Chicago can save $16 million in cap space with a trade, Pro Football Focus believes the Bears will trade him in the coming months. The only question is which team lands his services.

Bears Likely to Trade D.J. Moore In the Offseason

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are Super Bowl-bound after defeating the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game. Say what you will about their schedule, but nobody believed this team would make it this far in the first year of the Mike Vrabel Era. No matter what happens against the Seattle Seahawks, this team is well ahead of schedule in its rebuild. Drake Maye played like an MVP, the defense is strong, and New England’s draft class looks fantastic. Now, they need to spend the offseason making the most of their championship window.

The first thing they should do is trade for a great receiver like D.J. Moore. Stefon Diggs has played well this year, but he’s not the player he used to be, while guys like Kayshon Boutte, Demario Douglas, and Mack Hollins are better in supporting roles. Moore could give this team the consistent 1,000-yard threat it so desperately needs, and pairing him with Diggs and an MVP-caliber passer in Maye should create one of the league’s best offenses.

Kansas City Chiefs

Speaking of unexpected outcomes, the Kansas City Chiefs missed the playoffs. While they weren’t as bad as their 6-11 record would suggest, this team has plenty of work to do over the next few months. Rashee Rice cannot stay out of trouble, Travis Kelce might retire, and Xavier Worthy looks like a first-round bust. A healthy version of Mahomes could easily compensate for underwhelming weapons, but he’s recovering from a torn ACL and may not play up to his usual standard.

D.J. Moore has a similar skillset to Rashee Rice, but he’d still be a great fit for this offense. Both players have the versatility to line up outside and in the slot, run a full route tree, and hold on to balls in tight windows. Pairing these two together should help the Chiefs compete in a loaded AFC West next year.

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens have a new head coach for the first time in forever, and he may want to bring in more talent at the wide receiver position. While Zay Flowers has proven himself to be a legitimate weapon, Rashod Bateman had a rough year and there are no other receivers of note on the roster. A D.J. Moore trade could be the big splash this team needs to win the AFC North and finally return to the Super Bowl.
