BREAKING: Former Jets Second Round Pick Could Be on Trade Block After Latest Comments

April 1, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

breece hall trade block

Since the Jets are building a new regime, former second-round pick Breece Hall could be on the trade block this NFL Draft. According to a report, head coach Aaron Glenn is planning to utilize running backs Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis this upcoming season, which could likely spell the end of Hall. Originally selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, the former Iowa State product had one of the worst seasons last year, struggling with injuries on the field. No matter who was going to coach this football team, it was probably bound that Hall would either face a release or trade.

It shouldn’t be surprising if the Jets put him on the trade block to see if they could get something in return. However, it’s least likely that will happen, considering no other roster will give up anything for what could be a disastrous pickup for them. Hall may request a trade, but chances are that he is better off asking for a release if it comes down to it. The running back did have a solid season two years ago, recording 223 carries for 994 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns.

Hall still has something in the tank, but it might not be on the level of starting role duties. The running back will probably garner a potential market for his services. It won’t be perfect, but these two AFC teams could use his backup help this offseason if he becomes available on the market.

BREAKING: Former Jets Second Round Pick Breece Hall Could Be on Trade Block – Ravens, Chargers Possible Fits

Backing up Derrick Henry

Last season, the Baltimore Ravens were searching for a capable starter to be a worthy running back for quarterback Lamar Jackson’s offense. The team is now in line to give Derrick Henry a long-term deal after having an explosive campaign, as they took a chance even though he has a history of injuries. It paid off for the Ravens’ ground game, but they still need to find a reliable backup if they want to keep Henry for the postseason. Hall isn’t taking Henry’s job, but he might be an excellent chain-mover the Ravens can lean on in crucial third-down moments.

Keaton Mitchell came back last year, but he had a quiet comeback season and didn’t do much to prove he could be worthy to do much. Meanwhile, Justice Hill is more of a “dump-off” running back receiver who’s only explosive in screen passes. Breece Hall has his moments of burst and speed, so they could use him in that realm to keep the momentum pushing.

Gus Edwards replacement?

For the Chargers, they finally found an old-school-type running back in Najee Harris. After one season, it’s still surprising that the team did not bring back J.K. Dobbins yet. However, it makes sense since he didn’t fit into Jim Harbaugh’s mold. Gus Edwards didn’t make the cut, so they need a backup either way.

Breece Hall isn’t the immediate backup answer, but he’s a significant upgrade over Kimani Vidal, who is still adjusting to the league.
