
Former NFL running back Alex Collins passed away on Sunday night in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. He was just 28 years old.
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office revealed in a statement that Collins’ death was caused by a motorcycle crash. He was driving on West Oakland Park Boulevard when he crashed into an SUV.
Collins’ motorcycle slammed into the SUV as it was making a left turn. The police report says Collins went through a window of the passenger side.
Collins was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shortly after Collins’ death was announced, his family released a heartfelt statement on this tragedy.
“Alex was cherished by his family and friends as well as supporters from all around the world,” Collins’ family said in a statement. “All who truly know him can attest to his drive, determination, and larger-than-life personality.”
Collins, a former fifth-round pick from Arkansas, played for the Seahawks and Ravens during his NFL career. He had 1,997 rushing yards, 467 receiving yards and 19 total touchdowns.
