The Chargers, Ravens may pursue Eagles cut receiver Parris Campbell this season. According to multiple reports, the Philadelphia Eagles are officially releasing the veteran from the starting lineup after just adding him. Originally selected in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Ohio State product was never able to live up to expectations with the Colts since suffering from several injuries until he put on a promising campaign in 2022. He signed with the New York Giants in 2023 but Campbell became a journeyman in his NFL career so he might not be a viable starter anymore.
However, to no fault of his own, the veteran would probably never make it on the 53-man roster behind Devonta Smith, A.J. Brown and Jahan Dotson. The Eagles are heading in the right direction in their postseason chances after their win over the Baltimore Ravens so they’re not missing much from Campbell’s absence. Jalen Hurts may not be playing well but he has a strong supporting cast and coaching to take this team to another potential Super Bowl run. Campbell isn’t like other NFL franchise icon receivers like Julio Jones and Michael Thomas but he could easily fit into a team to help move the chains in critical moments.
He had his opportunity after the Eagles lost Quez Watkins in the past free agency but Campbell got lost in the shuffle after Dotson’s trade from the Commanders. It shouldn’t surprise anyone if no team picks him off waivers but he may have to wait to sign with a contender. Those two postseason teams may include the Chargers and Ravens who need an upgrade in their reserve rooms to help them topple the AFC competition.

Helping Herbert’s Vision
The Los Angeles Chargers are finding themselves to be the most exploding AFC wild card team since wideouts are stepping up to the plate to help Justin Herbert. There were some issues in the beginning but things got off to a fast start thanks to the running game that’s been established to regenerate some momentum. However, they probably can’t depend on the ground game for the next couple of matchups since J.K. Dobbins is heading to the IR. Harbaugh may expect Herbert to throw more passes and they have yet to develop any consistency other than rookie Ladd McConkey.
Quentin Johnston has his moments but it’s never favorable enough to persuade anyone that he could be the long-term starter. Despite that, Joshua Palmer could elevate atop of the receiving depth chart if he continues to be explosive in the slant routes. They may need a reserve player like Campbell to help accommodate DJ Chark since he’s been struggling to get more than 100 yards. Campbell may not be an excellent route runner but could catch a few balls on some possessions.
Diontae Johnson Leaving?
It seems like everyone in the league is figuring out the Baltimore Ravens despite having all the weapons on offense to be better than what their record is showing. However, even though the secondary is depleting, they have questions to answer about the passing game which hasn’t been consistent like John Harbaugh was hoping for Lamar Jackson. Receivers like Diontae Johnson may be leaving Baltimore after a trade midseason since the Ravens are struggling to bring the best out of him.
Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman are still stellar in their playing abilities but Baltimore lacks plenty of consistent pass catchers. The running game is working well but it’ll probably never compensate for the depleting defense since losing several key free agents. The Ravens never got a solid replacement since releasing Odell Beckham Jr., so someone like Campbell could be a low-cost effective option. Campbell won’t outshine your ordinary veteran receiver but he’s a temporary fix while the Ravens figure out the next step to help Jackson’s passing game.
