Chiefs Lose All-Pro To Hated Conference Rival

DeAndre Hopkins Contract

12-year veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has signed a new contract with the Baltimore Ravens. Hopkins, one of the greatest receivers of his generation, spent the 2024 season with the Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans but has also played for the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals.

JUST IN: DeAndre Hopkins is signing with the Baltimore Ravens on a one-year deal that can be worth up to $6 million, sources confirm to @diannarussini.bsky.social and Jeff Zrebiec.

After helping to bring out the best in Will Levis during the 2023 season, the Tennessee Titans hoped the receiver could grow with the quarterback in 2024. That didn’t happen, as Levis took a major step back as the team crashed under first-year head coach Brian Callahan. With the season already over at the trade deadline, Tennessee sent the star wideout to the Kansas City Chiefs.

After losing Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown to injury, Hopkins stepped in as a key part of the passing attack. During his 10 games with Kansas City, the wide receiver recorded 41 receptions for 437 yards and four touchdowns while helping the team reach the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, the Chiefs season ended with a blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

DeAndre Hopkins originally entered the league as a first-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. Selected by the Houston Texans, the Clemson product combined with Andre Johnson to form one of the league’s best wide receiver duos. Unfortunately, the team never found quarterback stability with Hopkins and Johnson, as the team struggled to succeed with Matt Schaub, Ryan Mallett, and Brian Hoyer throwing the ball.

Hopkins was productive with this subpar cast of quarterbacks but joined the league’s elite with Deshaun Watson. Paired with the first-round quarterback, Hopkins made three Pro Bowls from 2017 to 2019 before head coach Bill O’Brien traded him to the Arizona Cardinals for a second-round pick.

Despite the change in scenery, Hopkins remained elite with Kyler Murray and the Cardinals. During his first year with the club, the wideout made the Pro Bowl while recording 115 receptions for 1,407 yards and six touchdowns.
