Without an agent to represent his interests, it’s hard to get much information regarding Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson as his rookie contract with the team expires. So it should be no surprise that there are currently some conflicting reports about his involvement with the team.
On Thursday, CBS NFL insider Jonathan Jones reported that the Ravens did not “fully integrate” Jackson into their recent hiring process as they sought a new offensive coordinator. The Ravens recently hired Todd Monken to fill the position.
“Per sources, it’s my understanding that the Ravens did not fully integrate QB Lamar Jackson into the hiring process for their new offensive coordinator,” Jones tweeted.
However, Ravens insider Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic appeared to refute the report shortly afterwards. When tagged in a reply for comment, Zrebiec said that the Ravens offered Jackson “multiple opportunities to provide input” and be involved in the hiring process.
While not a direct contradiction of Jones’ reporting, Zrebiec seems to indicate that the Ravens wanted Jackson to be a part of the process and Jackson was the one who declined the opportunity. Jones, while he didn’t say it outright, seemed to imply that the Ravens didn’t want him to be part of the process.
More importantly, there are direct reports which assert that Jackson was involved in the hiring process.
All of that is to say that whatever gaps the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson seem to have between them don’t seem to be manifesting anywhere other than the negotiating table.
