Dalvin Cook Says He Still Has The Tools, ‘I’m Still That Guy’

Dalvin Cook is a free agent, but the former Pro Bowler says he’s still able to produce at a high level.

Cook has been training in Houston as teams continue to evaluate their rosters this offseason, and he says that he can be an option for ones that could be in need of a running back.

“I’ve got it all,” he told Aaron Wilson of Houston’s KPRC. “I didn’t really get no reps last year. So, the legs are fresh, so the resume speaks for itself. I’m still Dalvin Cook.

“I’m still that guy. For me, I don’t like to toot my own horn. I just like to go out there, put my helmet on and line up on the grass.”

Cook began the 2023 season with the New York Jets, but after Aaron Rodgers’ injury it became clear that his effectiveness would not be what he initially assumed.

He ended his Jets tenure with only 67 attempts, rushing for 214 yards.

The Jets released Cook in the middle of the season, and he signed with the Baltimore Ravens ahead of the playoffs.

Cook was used sparingly by the Ravens, rushing eight times for 23 yards in the team’s win over the Houston Texans, but he did not play against the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.

Saquon Barkley, Tony Pollard and Joe Mixon are among the names to move to different teams this season, cutting into Cook’s potential opportunities to earn a starting job.

The days of Cook being the featured back – as he was in Minnesota for so many years – may be over, but he believes he can still offer teams a viable option as a free agent.

As the season draws closer, we’ll find out if any team agrees and offers him a contract.
